  • Air Force Special Tactics, 7th SFG(A) team up to enhance Colombian SOF precision strike capability

    The 24th Special Operations Wing helped host and participate in a subject matter expert exchange for members of the Colombian Joint Special Operations Command Nov. 8-13, 2020, to enhance the partner’s air-ground integration and joint terminal attack controller program. The week-long foreign partner visit was hosted by the U.S. Army’s 7th Special Forces Group (Airborne), which included presentations from joint terminal attack controller instructors at the 24th SOW, as well as members from the 137th Special Operations Wing and 492nd Special Operations Wing.
  • Special Tactics Airman awarded Silver Star Medal

    A Special Tactics Airman was awarded the nation's third highest award for valor, the Silver Star Medal, during a ceremony at Pope Field, N.C., Aug. 14, 2020. Master Sgt. John Grimesey, a Special Tactics combat controller with the 21st Special Tactics Squadron, 24th Special Operations Wing, was recognized for his efforts in Afghanistan in 2013. He not only saved the life of a fellow special operations troop, but called in multiple airstrikes while being under attack by the enemy.
  • Fallen Special Tactics Airman remembered with hometown memorial

    Hundreds of Special Tactics operators, family and friends gathered to commemorate a fallen teammate, husband, father, brother, son and man of faith during a memorial service, Dec. 21, 2019, in Richardson, Texas. The service honored the life of U.S. Air Force Staff Sgt. Cole Condiff, a Special Tactics combat controller with the 23rd Special Tactics Squadron, Hurlburt Field, Florida, who had an unplanned parachute departure from a C-130 aircraft Nov. 5, 2019, over the Gulf of Mexico.

Gen. Brad Webb, commander of Air Force Special Operations Command, introduced U.S. Air Force Col. Matt Allen as the newest and fifth-ever wing commander of the sole Special Tactics wing in the Air Force.
