Dixon, the command chief of the 24th Special Operations Wing, retired May 13, 2016, after a 30-year career as a combat controller. In total, he spent ten of those thirty years away from his family, consistently serving his nation's call in dangerous ground combat and training. He is one of a handful of military members to complete three free-fall jumps into combat since Vietnam War.
