Special Tactics Combat Controller Tech. Sgt. John Chapman holds a young child in Afghanistan in early 2002. President Donald Trump will posthumously award the Medal of Honor to Chapman's family at a ceremony on August 22 for his extraordinary heroism in March 2002 while deployed to Afghanistan. Special Tactics combines the core skills of Special Operation Forces with the tactical integration of air power to find unique solutions for ground problems. Special Tactics Airman set to be posthumously awarded Medal of Honor

President Donald Trump will posthumously award the Medal of Honor to the family of fallen U.S. Air Force Tech. Sgt. John Chapman at a ceremony on August 22 for his extraordinary heroism in March 2002 while deployed to Afghanistan. TSgt Chapman was an expert in reconnaissance operations, air traffic control and terminal attack control operations, where he decisively integrated airpower on to the battlefield.
