Silver Star awarded for Mosul Offensive

U.S. Air Force Staff Sgt. Christopher Lewis, a combat controller with the 23rd Special Tactics Squadron, receives the Silver Star medal during a ceremony at Hurlburt Field, Florida, Jan. 19, 2018. The Silver Star medal, which is the second in precedence only to the Air Force Cross and Medal of Honor, was presented to Lewis for gallantry during the Mosul offensive in Iraq in 2016. His quick actions and high level of skill provided crucial air coverage for his team and eliminated more than 20 enemy forces over the course of a 10 hour firefight.
